Where to Go Snowmobiling in Mammoth Lakes

While some seek a tranquil escape to the beach for some sun, sand, and relaxation, others want nothing more than an adventurous and thrilling romp through the snow of the California mountains.

Mammoth Lakes, known locally as Mammoth, is just the place for this kind of trip. If you ended up in a Mammoth vacation rental, you’re probably aware of at least some of the endless adventuring possibilities of this town, with its rural ski lodge and gorgeous snow-covered downtown.

The region is exquisite, featuring dazzling granite cliff sides, ancient trees and, perhaps most importantly, rolling foothills with some of the best snowmobiling and skiing in the country.

Anyone who decides to visit Mammoth should take a look at the snowmobiling. It is one of the area’s most popular activities – and for good reason. The wide-open foothills of the region offer wonderful opportunities to gracefully glide over the lightly packed snow.

Tours of the Mammoth Mountains

Mammoth Snowmobiling Adventures is the premier provider for enthusiastic adventurers eager to get out on the snow. The main option for guests is the guided tour. There are two tour options: the 1.5-hour Adventure Tour, and the three-hour Explorer Tour. There are currently no other tour packages.

You and your group will be led by a trained and seasoned guide up a few hills and down a few accessible entry-level trails. Nothing here will require a lot of experience, but you will be given a demonstration on steering, shifting gears, and your position on the machine, as well as other information vital to handling the snowmobile. You will also be fitted with a helmet and undergo a prompt safety briefing. The team will cover the popular Mammoth snowmobile trails and what to look out for when you’re riding through the forest. This includes wildlife, incredible views, and even avalanche spotting.
