Mammoth Mountain, California, may be the ski capital of the country. Between its epic mountain passes and numerous ski lodges, the region has become a pivotal point of focus for eager travelers, investors, and sports enthusiasts.
Some of the most seasoned veterans in the country make their way to Mammoth to indulge in some exciting events and tricky maneuvers. But newcomers also test their confidence (or lack of it) in Mammoth’s elegant lodges.
Located at 10001 Minaret Road, the Main Lodge is the first one to open for the season, getting ahead of the curve by a few weeks. This lodge is an all-around accommodating experience, offering a welcoming journey for first-timers.
Gondola access takes you directly to the summit. Accessible paths are available for those who don’t want to ski and childcare services can keep the little ones back in the lodge, secured and safe.
The gear shop on site can connect you with any accessories and equipment you may have forgotten. Finally, if you don’t want to get in the middle of the action, you can watch it all unfold from a cozy lodge sundeck.
Which ski lodge in Mammoth Lakes does 1849 Condos use? Canyon Lodge! It’s right across the street from our rental properties and has the most seasonal traffic and the highest number of skiers and snowboarders hitting its slopes.
If you aren’t comfortable hitting the slopes, you can learn to ski when you enroll in the Canyon Lodge’s entry-level ski school. The Lodge also has four main lifts and one kid lift that all access the entire mountain.
While Canyon Lodge is filled with welcoming amenities, nice bathroom facilities, a wonderful ski lift, and other family-friendly additions, they will be undergoing a $40 million 3-phase remodel over the next few years, including the addition of bars and a food court remodel. They just added escalators and improved the entryway to the lodge this past summer.
Eagle Lodge is a bit off-the-radar at 4000 Majestic Pines Drive, but this can be a nice change of pace for excited skiers looking to adventure in the fringes of the area. Eagle Lodge is smaller than its neighboring locations. It is also at the bottom of the mountain, just a mile outside the village.
A convenient shuttle from town can take you right to the front entrance of the lodge, where you can navigate the sides of Lincoln Mountain and check out the full-service restaurant and bar.
The Tamarack Lodge is a fantastic place to visit. The lodge is only about a five-minute drive from the vacation rental site, making it the closest ski lodge to 1849 condos, second only to Canyon Lodge, which is across the street from many of our 2 & 3 bedroom condos.
Tamarack is known for its cross-country skiing. If you aren’t fully equipped for the trip, you can rent and even purchase snowshoes and other gear at the snowshoe center.
The best time to visit any of the four ski lodges of Mammoth Lakes is during the winter season of November through April. Group reservations are not necessarily required, but they are highly recommended. Check out the condos at 1849 Mountain Rentals and book online.
