Mammoth Mountain Ski Area offers chairlift-accessed mountain biking, featuring more than 100 miles (160 k) of single track trails for all ability levels. Fly Fishing. Fly fishing is a time honored sport in Mammoth Lakes and fly fishing is top-ranked in the nearby Owens Valley High altitude lakes, rivers, and streams offer endless opportunities for anglers. Alpers trout, renowned for their trophy size, are stocked in many of the local lakes. Convict Lake, Crowley Lake, and the Mammoth Lakes Basin are prime for the big catch. A fishing license is required in the Mammoth area for all anglers age 16 or older and may be purchased locally .
